Your Eco Partners with British Virgin Islands Electricity Corporation (BVIEC) on Pioneering Solar Energy Projects

In a significant step towards sustainability, Your Eco has teamed up with the British Virgin Islands Electricity Corporation (BVIEC) to support the design, development, and capacity building of the Solar Technology Energy Program (STEP). This collaboration is part of the BVI’s broader commitment to transitioning to renewable energy and building a more sustainable future.
The STEP project is particularly focused on cutting electricity costs for residents and businesses alike. With an investment of $1 million from the BVI government, STEP is a crucial part of the territory’s long-term strategy for a sustainable energy transition. As part of this initiative, solar grid-tie systems will be installed, enabling households and businesses to generate their own electricity from solar power, further reducing dependence on imported fuel. In some cases, participants may even receive financial credits for the excess energy they produce.
The Solar Technology Energy Program (STEP) is a cornerstone of the British Virgin Islands’ renewable energy efforts. By working alongside BVIEC, Your Eco is helping to pave the way for a greener, more resilient energy infrastructure across the island. This ambitious initiative aligns with the BVI's goal to reduce its reliance on imported fossil fuels and foster local, sustainable energy solutions.
Minister of Communications and Works, Kye Rymer, emphasised the significant impact of the program, stating, “This initiative aims to slash electricity bills for residents by up to 50%. It’s a key step in creating a resilient, future-proof energy infrastructure for the BVI.”
The BVI Electricity Corporation (BVIEC) will play a crucial role in the installation of the solar systems, covering upfront equipment costs as part of the program. This partnership between BVIEC and Your Eco is a critical move in advancing renewable energy adoption in the territory, helping to ensure that the British Virgin Islands remains at the forefront of sustainable energy solutions in the Caribbean.
Through STEP, the BVI is taking bold strides toward reducing its carbon footprint and becoming a regional leader in renewable energy.
